ALL HAIL HOLY PJ'S I think we can all agree that PJ'S are the most worn and most loved items of clothing in anybodies wardrobe excpecially mine.
Materials I use the most
There are five main magical illustration tools that I LOVE and always seem to use if everything else fails.
First things first an illustrators trusty and most traditional tool, a bog standard pencil. You can never go wrong with a sharp pencil, I prefer to use mechanical pencils, I think because the lead is thinner and always sharp. this one in particular is just one that comes in a set but I really need to invest in a reusable one you buy the lead for.
Another illustration ingredient is one that I have only previously found a place in my heart for and thats gouache, ooh how I love it. The possibilities with this are endless. It is matte and as opaque as you make it, when you mix a colour its like velvet! it can also be watered down into water colour for a lighter wash of colour. The ones that I use are Winsor and Newton designer gouache.
To go alongside the last a trusty paintbrush, although I need to buy some new and thinner ones. I usually go for thin soft ones that I know I can trust for outlines and small paintings.
COPIC CIAO every illustrator and their dog knows about these pens, I particularly like the pastel more lighter colour as they're good for quick washes of light colour for quick illustrations if I'm drawing quickly and want to add some colour. One thing I love about them is the brush end it makes beautiful marks.
Last but not least, the pentel brush pen I love using this instead or after using pencil for variety its also good for typography and the nib is built like a paint brush and because of this the lines made are beautiful.
